Welcome To The Circle Of Friends!
The Circle of Friends Program provides special education students with the opportunity to gain confidence and friendships through a mentor relationship with another peer. Our Circle of Friends program pairs regular education students as mentors with students with special needs. The Mentoring for Kids program is designed to function in a reciprocal manner. Mentors gain confidence acting as a leader, while their peer with special needs gains the support and guidance of a regular education peer.
In over 150 schools in Texas and Kansas, we often pair organizations together to make for a more successful program! In Sedgwick County, Kansas for example, there is a partnership with Wichita Schools, Derby Schools, The Arc of Sedgwick County, and The Sedgwick County Cooperative. This model has been duplicated with The Arc and Cooperative in Butler County. Other districts are coming aboard as they see the multiple benefits this program brings to all students. Consultation is available by contacting us at (316) 866-8172.
