Welcome To The Circle Of Friends!
The Arc of Sedgwick County's newest program provides special education students with the opportunity to gain confidence and friendships through a mentor relationship with another peer. Our Circle of Friends program pairs regular education students as mentors with special education students. The Mentoring for Kids program is designed to function in a reciprocal manner. Mentors gain confidence acting as a leader, while their peer with special needs gains the support and guidance of a regular education peer.
There is a partnership with Wichita Schools and The Sedgwick County Cooperative. This model has been duplicated with The Arc and Cooperative in Butler County. Other districts are coming aboard as they see the multiple benefits this program brings to all students. Consultation is available by contacting us at (316) 973-6254.

Circle of Friends Conference!! : Circle of Friends is having a conference to help schools get started on April 25, 2008. Our first ever conference will be held at Wichita North High School at 1642 N. Rochester in Wichita, Kansas. Cost is free for affiliates, ( up to 5 participants), or $150 per person. ( See below to sign your district up as an affiliate.) | Do you want to be an affiliate of Circle of Friends? Do you want to know how to get started in your school and get the support of our staff and be able to use our forms, icon, expertise? As an affiliate, you will receive a notebook for your district and all the forms and detailed instructions to get started. You can send up to 5 staff to our conference for free!
