Our Team:
Circle of Friends Coordinator, Val Wall:
|
I am so excited to be starting Circle of Friends Programs in schools around the area.
I am passionate about this program. I have seen the benefits for the students and the school. I know what a difference it makes. My husband teaches Adapted PE in the Wichita Schools and since I taught school for 21 years, ( 18 in the special education classroom), we understand the frustrations and rewards of teaching. My three children are Leslie, 22, Drew, 19, and Bryce, 17. I have a new grandson, Will. I also have 2 labs that are spoiled rotten. I can’t wait to get these programs in full swing! | |
Assistants:
Donald Betts: Throughout his life, he has always been dedicated to the growth and development of children. Donald Betts, Jr. worked for COF during first semester but now works as a state senator. He continues to volunteer when he can. Senator Betts was recently married to Tania, who is also a supporter of children with special needs.
|
Emma Craig: When Emma is not busy helping kids, she is involved in music theatre. She has visited China this past year. She enjoys seeing live theatre, performing, swimming, and hanging out with friends.
|
Molly Donham: A junior at Friends University, Molly is majoring in graphic design and studio art. She volunteered in our program last year as an art teacher for Chisholm Lifeskills Center. Molly is our media person this year. She will maintain our website and monthly e-newsletter. |
Krysten Mattocks: Krysten was involved as a buddy/mentor at Maize High so is now very excited to be working in the program. She is majoring in Elementary Education at Wichita State. Krysten enjoys reading, eating oreos, and watching Oprah. |
Emilee Stevenson: A student at Wichita State University, Emilee believes her mission is to serve others. She has worked in the Circle of Friends Program this past year. Emilee has gone on several mission trips in this past year.
|
Sean McCoskey: Sean is a full time student at WSU seeking a major in education. He has a passion for serving and encouraging all people. Sean volunteers at Olivet Baptist Church as the youth worship pastor. His favorite food in the world is strawberries and in his opinion, warm colors are always the way to go. If Sean could give a message to the world, it would be that we should all learn how to love and share this planet with each other. All people- black, white, yellow, green, red, big, tall, round, tiny, short, crazy, boring, funny...you get the point?

Laynna Wiggins:

Wichita State in the spring. She was involved with Circle of Friends at
Maize High School as a buddy and is thrilled to now be a part of the
Circle of Friends Staff! She is passionate about making people smile and
feel comfortable in their own skin. She hopes to obtain a degree in
entrepreneurship and open a dance studio with the focus on special
education students. Laynna grabs every opportunity to embarrass herself
for the sake of entertainment for others. Some personal favorites of
Laynna's are admiring the Flint Hills and eating marshmallows. |

He plays football at Friends University and is currently working to get my double major in business administration and secondary business education. He loves to watch sports and find many things to keep him busy. He can't wait to get started and meet all of you.
